    Revolutionary War veteran. Nathaniel Atkinson served under Capt. Henry Gerrish, Col. John Stark's Regiment, at the Battle of Lexington/Concord in 1775. He enlisted 1776 for the defense of Ticonderoga with his younger brother Joseph, and in 1777 marched with Col. Henry Gerrish for the siege of Ticonderoga, but marched home from western New Hampshire upon learning the Americans had surrendered.
